So....

So I got this blog. Why, you ask? What could I possibly have to say that would be remotely interesting? Honestly....not a whole lot. I pretty much got this blog so that I can leave comments on other people's blogs. Like the baby blog.

INSERT: Hi Matt and Nicole. And nameless baby.

But I figured that sense I have the blog I should probably put stuff on here. I think I can manage to muster up things to talk about. Fair warning though, it will probably have to do with something some kid did and/or said at work. For example...

I'm the school shadow for a little boy (5 years old) now. So basically I follow him around and make sure he stays "sort of" on task during the day and doesn't get hurt and such. Actually a lot harder then it sounds. Anyway, the little boy I work with is sweet. A little antsy at times, but...he does have autism after all. Anywho...it's a Christian preschool. So the other day the teacher was teaching about Noah (you know the one with the ark) and she asked the kids some questions. The conversation went something like this....

Teacher: "Who can tell me why Noah built the ark?"

Trenton: "I know! I know!"

Teacher: "Yes, Trenton?"

Trenton: "Because the elephants were too big to go on a regular size boat!" *huge grin*

Teacher: "Well that's true Trenton, but there was another reason that Noah built the ark."

*Some other kids say some random things. One kid tells us all about his 3 pets. The teacher says....

"Ok then let's review. The people had disobeyed God and He was VERY sad. So he told Noah to take 2 of every animal and his whole family because He was going to flood the Earth and start over again."

Kids: "OHHHHH!!!!"

Teacher: "Now why did Noah build the ark?"

Trenton: "Because God hated us!!!" *wide eyes*

---END SCENE---

Then there's this kid Caleb that is obsessed with my little guy that I work with. He wants to eat his snacks, play with his toys, do pretty much everything Junior does. Except that Junior really doesn't care whether Caleb is around or not. But the other day we were all sitting "relatively" quietly and the teacher was talking. And Caleb busts out with "SUNDAY MONDAY TUESDAY WEDNESDAY THURSDAY FRIDAY SATURDAY." Which is very good. Because he knows his days of the week. But we had done the calendar approximately 10 minutes before that. Ahhh....children.

Incidentally, the little one I work with at his house is learning "desk" as his newest furniture label. So I say, "what furniture?" and hold up a picture of a desk and ideally Manuel says "desk." Although he's not quite there yet. For example, today we did that particular drill and I prompted him and said "desk" and he goes "deskica" then he started repeating my name. So now when I ask what furniture he goes "Jessica....desk." Which I suppose is a step up from Friday when he was responding with my name when shown a picture of carrots. At least it rhymes now.

I love my job.
